Stop being Indecisive

Stop being Indecisive

Honest, I’ll not directing this at any of you. Some of you are so grounded that you’re astounding to me.

As far back as I can remember, I have loved colors. Each one has a specific place to be in this world. The Crayola box of crayons, no matter what size, doesn’t have all the colors seen in the world. My love for colors is only surpassed by my love of writing, and not by much.

I know you haven’t missed it. I changed colors and header picture again. I am desperately hoping that I can make this one last long. I had started off with a different palette and picture. I must have had some misgivings somewhere in the back rooms of my mind because I asked my writing buddy, Tess, to give me feedback on my decision. Although her answer was positive, I sensed somewhere in the words she used that she either thought it wasn’t what she would pick or that she thought it really didn’t fit me. With the new color and picture you see before you, I didn’t ask the opinion of another living soul before putting it on my blog. Do you like the turquoise background? I still love this template. Does that mean I’m headed toward finding what look really is me? Quite possible. 😉

Because I can’t seem to stay away from colors, I have decided to get back into web art manipulation. No, I’m not leaving writing behind. This will be something I do as a deliberate distraction from writing. There are times when I just can’t look at what I’m writing any longer and need a distraction to clean my head. Yes, doing housework is one of the ways to get this done, but shouldn’t there be something else to do? Lately, there is nothing on TV worth watching. I can’t afford movies. I’d get out of the house, but with mobility problems, often it isn’t a good idea. So, I will dabble in manipulating photos using my PaintShop Pro.

I wish I could get to the bottom of this fickleness that clings to me. It makes life complicated when it should be simple. Do I try to finish cleaning despite the fact that I feel tired or do I risk taking a break? I may not get up again until it’s too late. Do I keep on trying to write this scene that has me frustrated, or do I go read? Both are important parts of writing but… Do you see what I mean. And most of my days in general are like this. Could it be that the medication for my GAD needs to be increased?

I’ll figure it out. I just need some time to do it. 🙂

BTW, Happy Ground Hog’s Day! 😛

My meds are two antidepressants, one taken twice a day, one taken once a day. The picture for this post is a free photo from Pixabay that I manipulated with good old PaintShop Pro.

  1. It took me over a year to decide what color to paint my hallway in another house. I couldn’t make up my mind no way. One day a light went on and I k.n.e.w.

Truth be told this look is crisp and clean. Play around for a while. Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that… 😀 ❤

I’d like to change the color of the links, but that would require a payment to WordPress.Com, which I’m not willing to do at this time. With some issues unsettled at this host site, I don’t want to make that commitment.

That’s exactly why I don’t have my own domain anymore. You wouldn’t believe all the headaches I had. I like having someone else take care of what goes on in the ‘back room’. I sleep better at night.

I just want to be able to keep my theme template and use the old editor. As long as I have those two, I should be fine. 😉

  2. I don’t think you have to decide. I love the colors, and changing them regularly is fine. To me, it’s like “what shall I wear today?” I say go with what makes you feel inspired and happy. 🙂

Thank you for the support, April. This time things feel different. I want my blog to reflect who I am. The winter tree is not me. Neither is the flower before it. This abstract is me. Many people may not like me, but the ones who do really DO like me.

  3. I emphatically don’t like trying to do the artistic steps required of writers–FB headers, blog backgrounds, book covers. I’ve been forced into it and like you, am never really happy with the resolts. Worse, though, is trying to tell someone else enough about what’s behind a blog/FB/book so they can design one that resonates with me. Sigh.

If you want me to try with the FB and/or blog, I’d be happy to do so. And if I can’t get it right, that’s okay, nothing lost. Plus I won’t charge. 😛

Just contact me via email (use the contact page here if necessary) if you’re interested.

  4. I love the turquoise background. It is lovely. With every decision, comes quite a few choices. Indecisiveness, ugh. I hate that too. Right now I’m working on making changes to my blog’s theme, it’s driving me crazy – should I make the font bigger, should I use a different colour for links…you get the picture.

Sometimes it’s hard to finish writing an article or a story…because any ending is always a new beginning 🙂

I can’t change font size or the color of the links. I like the font size anyway so there’s not problem there. Having the abstract picture more or less solves the problem of link color. The color is in there, just have to look for it.

Finishing a piece isn’t all that difficult for me once I get past the middle. It’s that middle that hangs me up.

  5. It’s great that you’re giving yourself permission to branch out into other creative areas. I find that’s how photography works for me. One can only stand their own writing for so long, so it’s essential to experience other creative endeavors to find a good balance so one creative endeavor can inspire the other.

  6. Hi Glynis, I remember getting that box of crayons as a kid…. You know the big one with like 64 or 68 different colors, and I just couldn’t wait to use them all and at the same time didn’t want to use them because they were so new and perfect. Art, color and creating are fun and relaxing. I enjoy it too. And I love the turquoise.. One of my favorite colors.

Until I saw the abstract picture I’m using, I wasn’t sure of the color, turquoise. I love it too but I kept thinking it may be a little too bright for a background. Then I saw it in the picture and “threw caution to the wind”.
